NIST to Get 4.5% Increase

first_imgHouse of Representatives and Senate conferees have agreed to give the National Institute of Standards and Technology $856 million for 2010, a 4.5% increase over last year’s budget. The total, for the fiscal year that began 1 October, falls between the House and Senate versions. It’s $10 million more than President Barack Obama requested earlier this year, an amount that corresponds roughly to the $10.5 million that legislators have included for special projects in their districts. The biggest single earmark is a $5 million supercomputing center at the University of Hawaii.last_img
