first_imgSummary of Job Duties:The Director will provide leadership for the multidisciplinaryteam of 11 research and Extension faculty and about 40 classifiedand non-classified staff, and hourly support staff. The Directorwill serve the Division as a recognized authority and spokespersonfor rice production, processing and marketing. The successfulcandidate will lead the faculty and staff in funding, building andmaintaining strong, multidisciplinary research and extensionprograms that address applied and basic research topics relevant toArkansas and mid-South rice industry needs.Provide leadership in planning, integrating, and implementing theresearch and Extension programs conducted at the RREC. Duties willinclude administrative and fiscal leadership for the RRECpersonnel, programs and physical resources; program planning,faculty development, and pursuit of extramural funding;coordination with other university programs, professional andgovernmental agencies, and industry groups. The successfulcandidate will be active in industry support groups including, butnot limited to the Arkansas Rice Research & Promotion Board,Rice Technical Working Group, Rice Industry Alliance, Arkansas FarmBureau, USA and Arkansas Rice Federation, and the AgriculturalCouncil of Arkansas. The Director will help establish research andextension priorities related to rice production, processing, andmarketing. The Director will also provide overall leadership forplanning and execution of the annual Rice Field Day.Qualifications:The candidate must have an earned Ph.D., orequivalent, in Agriculture or a closely related discipline, and asufficient record of professional accomplishments that wouldqualify for the rank of Professor. Demonstrated ability tocommunicate effectively and persuasively with both scientific andstakeholder audiences. The candidate’s record should demonstratethe administrative skills to lead a dynamic research and Extensionprogram, including the ability to collaborate and communicate withdiverse clientele. Demonstrated fiscal and personnel management,excellence in written and oral communication skills, ability toattract extramural funding, interest in providingmulti-disciplinary leadership and coordination of diverse researchinterests are preferred.
